I guess I don't think the question is posed well. If your kids are expressing their opinions without being rude or disrespectful, do we really need to call that "talking back." Isn't that just a discussion between parties that respect each others' opinions?

After clearing out my deceased grandmother's home and finding years' worth of Christmas nicknack's that were never used or just collected dust, my family elected to concentrate on gifts that were predominantly consumables.

I have very sensitive skin and any powder I have ever tried is irritating to me. Cheap and effective? Corn starch. Costs about $1 a box.

I work daily with disabled individuals of every stripe. I can tell you that they really are just like the rest of us "normal" people. Some of them are charming and delightful. Some are irritating and annoying.

Amen! I spent plenty of meals in the car for a "time out" with my small children. I would never dream of ruining other diner's meals.

One of my grandmother's favorite sayings is one of the best. "You will always love your children. Raise them so that other people will." Pretty much says it all.

Not only does she have a right to see her kids, shielding them from the reality of their mother's condition does not serve them as humans.

Parents as well as the media are much to blame for making teaching a thankless job. Instant gratification isn't just a probpem w kids.

Another way to look at gentle discipline is to "catch them being good." I read years ago that the Native American way of parenting was to ignore bad behavior and compliment the good.
